An unmistakable dead-flat plateau flanked by Devil's Peak and Lion's Head above Cape Town. Classic full-profile views are from Bloubergstrand, Milnerton beach and Signal Hill.
Why Table Mountain matters
Table Mountain is the flat-topped sandstone landmark overlooking Cape Town, its level plateau roughly 3 km from side to side and edged by steep cliffs. Orographic cloud frequently spills over the flat top, forming the famous 'tablecloth'; the highest point is Maclear's Beacon.
